The Future Of Ray Ban

Ray Ban has just come out with their very own 'Colorize Kit,' and how badly do I want it? Badly. Upon purchasing, you get your very own pair of white sun glasses (the RB2140 model) and a set of what I like to call rave colors, or shades of neon. Then you create whatever you want! That's the beauty of it. Sadly they don't come out until next year.... hang in there!

Spontaneous Art

NYSAT, a small group of artists, went around New York City about a week ago in search of unlicensed billboards to whitewash and paint.

Why didn't anyone think of this sooner? I love the art that is going to be everywhere! Look out for it fellow New Yorkers.

Girl Crush #4

New York City based jewelry designer and girl-about-town Pamela Love has got it all-- good looks, great style, and an enviable array of talents. Love is best known for her line of eponymous jewelry, which puts a macabre twist on elements found in nature. Pieces range from gold vermeil rings shaped like peacocks to bronze cuffs cast from eagle claws. For Autumn 2009, Love collaborated on collections with Frank Tell, Yigal Azrouel, and Zac Posen, artfully intertwining her signature dark humor with the individual aesthetics of each designer. Love is also a painter and makes frequent forrays into the world of music. Beyond that, the girl knows how to put together an outfit that walks those fine lines between dishabille/messy and masculine/feminine with ease. Girl Crush material indeed.

One of the choreographers, Kwikstep, is teaching a workshop at Broadway Dance Center on May 1st! The workshop will help you learn the fundamentals of breaking. He's a great teacher and I highly recommend taking this workshop. Go to the website to register.

Guest Editor: Jessie LaFargue - Red Berry

Nothing is better than a cold treat on a hot day, as is apparent by the endless lines outside of Pinkberry. But I would like to introduce you to my personal favorite: Red Mango. Red Mango has the same concept as Pinkberry except it was created first and I personally prefer it. They also are coming out with a new flavor called Tangomonium, which I cannot wait to try. I find their yogurt to be creamier and they give you bigger portions for a cheaper price. Once you try it, you'll be addicted.

GUEST EDITOR: Jessie Lafargue: Getting There

Thanks to a good friend of mine, I was given the gift of biking this past weekend. I'm obsessed. There is no better way to get around than on two wheels when the weather is nice. Not only biking fun, but it is also inexpensive, great exercise, and helps the environment. I went to Bicycle Renaissance (430 Columbus Avenue) to put air in my tires and highly recommend it if you need bike help or if you want to purchase a bike. They have a huge selection of bicycles and great staff members. See you on the bike path!

It's Bashert (Meant To Be)

This winter, even though prom was months and months away, I decided to go to my favorite store, Bergdorf Goodman, to begin my search for the perfect dress. Of course, one of the designers I love, Elizabeth & James, had a dark emerald green corset strapless dress in my size. Of course, I had to try it on, and what do you know...it fit perfectly! However, the price tag wasn't quite so perfect, so I parted ways with this amazing dress in hopes that I would find one just like it or better. But, my luck wasn't so great, and dress after dress I tried on, none seemed to fit the same or look as great at the Elizabeth & James dress. After returning to Bergdorf Goodman with my tail between my legs about two weeks ago I searched and searched for another dress. And just as I was walking out of the dressing room I glanced in the direction of a sales rack that I had already scoured and saw that shining emerald green color. I ran to the rack and pulled out the very same dress I had tried on in November! It had the exact same thread sticking out from the top! Of course I tried it on one last time...it fit just as well as it did before, but this time, so did the price tag! It was reduced three times! To end this story, this dress was meant to be worn by me...it's bashert!

Check out my dress....tell me what you think!

Seasonally Inappropriate? Yes. Covetable? Absolutely.

With summer stretching before us, there hardly seems like an item less practical than thigh-high black leather boots. In a stroke of either genius or lunacy, Chloe has come out with a gorgeous pair just in time for the first days of pleasant weather. Not exactly destined for summer wardrobe staple-dom, but if you're the type of person who starts buying sweaters in July, these are available at Barneys and Iris, in both leather and suede (several colors, too!)

Happiness: Just a Click Away

With the weather forecast looking grim when compared to the summer sunshine we've been experiencing, indoor entertainment becomes a priority. While movie theaters are a perennially popular choice when searching for a laugh or two, never underestimate the comedic power of the blog.

Grapes of Wrath

Last night I saw my school's play (Grapes of Wrath) and absolutely LOVED it! Fellow blogger, Nicole, was fantastic in it, and all of her hard work has definitely paid off. She even drew the poster for the play! Shout out to my friend Caroline who is the stage manager, and is the brains behind the whole operation; and Blair, who was also INCREDIBLE. Go see it tonight and tomorrow night at 7pm!

One of my favorite models and style icons, Alice Dellal, is known for shaving half of her head. It is a pretty difficult look to rock, but I think that Alice makes it look awesome!

I was recently disturbed when I encountered a picture of Cassie (Me  & You) sporting the same look!!! I'm not sure how i feel about it....what do you think??

About a year ago, my friend Caity introduced me to the ultimate treasure trove of cheap yet cute clothes, SALVATION ARMY!!! Salvation Army stores receive donations of clothing which they then sell and donate the proceeds to the army. It is the perfect place to find both basics and something one of a kind. The prices range from 1$ to about $15.

There are several locations but my favorite is on 96th street between Broadway and West End.

Lauren Conrad For Kohls

After discontinuing her high end clothing line, Lauren Conrad has decided to go a different route, and is starting a line for Kohls. Though it is starting out as solely clothes, there are rumors that it could expand into jewelry, shoes, purses, and even nightwear. I am excited to see what types of clothes will be made!

Tribeca Film Festival Highlight: City Island Premiere

Last night I got the privilege of going to the City Island Premiere. The movie stars: Andy García, Dominik García-Lorido, Ezra Miller, Alan Arkin, Julianna Margulies, and Emily Mortimer. The producers were Lauren Versel, and Maria Teresa Arida, and it was directed by Raymond De Felitta. The movie captures an everyday kind of family, and their tangled web of secrets. You will immediately get drawn into the family, as they have you laughing so hard that your stomach hurts, but also crying simultaneously. This is the second time I have seen the movie, and it was just as good, if not better the second time around. I highly, highly, recommend you go see it. For the first time, you will feel like you are not alone with having family issues!

A Little Peace & Quiet In The Bustle Of The City

Since the temperature in NYC is continuing to rise and rise with summer just around the corner, on your lunch break or on the weekends you might want to take a stroll through Central Park for a picnic or a quick tanning session. The hot spots to lay down in the grass are Sheep's Meadow (location: in the mid 60's closer to Central Park West), Strawberry Fields (location: early 70's just in front of The Dakota on Central Park West), The Great Lawn (location: mid 80's and right in the middle of 5th Avenue and Central Park West), or The North Meadow (location: mid 90's and right in the middle of 5th Avenue and Central Park West). If you are not into sitting on the grass and soaking up the sun and still want to enjoy a beautiful day in NYC, then try The Boat House for lunch, which is right off of one of the many ponds located in Central Park. So next time you feel like enjoying the hot weather outdoors, try these locations!

Photography At Its Best

A couple of nights ago, I had the pleasure of going to see my good friend Douglas Friedman's (world renowned photographer)exhibition with my friend Blair. The exhibit (in collaboration with fashion house Ruffian) was called "Lady," and featured burlesque women wearing... well, not much at all. Each photograph was undoubtedly intriguing in its own way, my personal favorites being the close up shots. The downtown crowd was a mix of well dressed people from all walks of life (and sky-high Louboutins) which definitely added to the great vibe of the evening. Celeb appearances included: Tinsley Mortimer, Annabel Vartanian, Jane Keltner, Zani Gugelman, and Gossip Girl's Amanda Setton.

Lady is open for six weeks, by appointment only. To book a viewing, call Ruffian at (212.279.4022)

Christmas Come Early?

Surprise, surprise...Fleetwood Mac, probably one of the greatest groups of all time, are currently on tour! Although they already hit up nyc in mid-March at The Beacon Theatre they have decided to come back, thank god! Except this time, they are looking to come out with a big bang at the Garden. They unfortunately are only preforming in nyc for one night only, so if you missed out on the march gig, here's your second chance! They are preforming on June 11th, the date is coming up so get your tickets immediately, they go on-sale the 1st of May. Sadly, I have a prior engagement that night so I will not be able to go, but in my stead all of you Fleetwood Mac fans enjoy!
p.s. do not give up this once and a lifetime chance to see Stevie Nicks perform!

Core Fusion (More Like Sore Fusion...)

My new found joy is called Core Fusion. It is similar to Pilates in that it allows you to work with your body from the inside out. My fellow bloggers Sarah, and Sarah, showed it to me, and I'm so glad they did! You can take the class at Exhale Spa at the Downtown, Midtown, and Upper East Side location. If you bring your school ID card its $20. Go get Fused!

speaking of Erin Wasson...

This spring, Erin Wasson designed her first collection for RVCA (Erin Wasson x RVCA). The collection was as amazing as we all expected it to be, but the Fall collection was particularly stunning. I'll let the clothes speak for themselves...
